What you can expect from this service?

When you start a webchat, a new browser window will open. We’ll ask you a few equality monitoring questions, and then we’ll connect you with a trained supporter.

The supporter will listen and help you to talk through any issue you’re experiencing.

The supporter will provide you with the time, support and tools to help you to move forward.

1. What can I speak to you about?

You can talk to us about anything that is causing you concern or distress. Whether it’s your mental health, your studies, money, housing or relationships, we’re here to listen and help you move forward.

2. Is it free?

Yes.

3. Is it confidential?

We believe you have the right to use our services confidentially, meaning what you say stays with us. However, sometimes we might contact other agencies or organisations to get you, or someone else, help.

If we contact another agency or organisation we will always try and do this with you knowing and with your consent. We would do this without your consent if we believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else.

You can also find out how your personal information is collected and used to improve our service.

4. When is it open?

Our phones are open 7 days a week from 4pm to 11pm.

5. What kind of training do staff and volunteers get?

All our staff and volunteers undergo 30 hours of specialist training, including specialist modules on managing mental health conditions such as suicide and suicidal ideation, anxiety, depression and self-harm.
